Hey Lost! GET FUCKING LOST! (spoilerish)

I'm still going to watch to the end because at this point, how can I not?  BUT I FUCKING HATE THIS SHOW RIGHT NOW.

It's not enough to lose Charlie?
It's not enough that Des is in a well & Penny is lord knows where?

Nope.

Now I lose the character who has been my favorite since the first episode.
AND the couple that I can never decide if I like better, the same, or less than Des/Penny.

FUCK you LOST!  If you were not almost over, I would quit you in a heartbeat.

Just a warning now.  If they kill my Jack, I will fucking go apeshit.  I've already lost enough damn show!

Hurley better be safe too.  And my Des!

Screw it.  This show is going to kill everyone I love.  Lucky fans of Sawyer & Kate.  They'll get to live.

Glee's Return (don't read if you haven't watched)

mood: sleepysleepy

Just finished watching "Glee" and I'm so glad it's back.  I don't think I realized how much I missed this show until I saw it again.

The best part of last night's show for me was the ridiculous dinner with Finn and the 2 cheerleaders.  "Dolphins are just gay sharks" has to go down as one the show's best, and most random, lines ever.

My couples were making me sad though.  I very much understand why Will needs some time to be by himself but I really do want him with Emma too.  Although maybe not so much if he's going to be making out with another woman on a regular basis!  Terri was pretty fun as a bitch in the scene with Emma, even if I ended up totally wanting to bitch slap her.  And seriously sweetie, pointing out Emma's crazy is totally a whole "pot-kettle" situation as you are pretty much bat-shit crazy yourself.

Rachel and Finn?  Sigh.  Part of me LOVES the idea of it being Finn who has to chase her now--as long as he really cares about her.  I think he does but he can be a bit confusing on that front.  I adored Rachel and Jesse's version of "Hello" but I am so sad for her.  It's going to be break her, as she said, when she finds out the truth.  :(

I'd like to see more of Puck and Quinn.  And Curt.  I know they had a lot of stuff to set up with Will/Emma and Rachel/Finn in this episode and I do love them all.  However, I also love Puck and Curt.

Oh and there can never be enough Sue.

Lost

Is Lost trying to "out-Lost" itself or what?  Normally I can follow the show better than I did last night.  Of course the fact that I'm still thinking about it nearly 24 hours later does indicate that it's at least interesting.

They are SO lucky they didn't kill off my Sayid!  I was genuinely uncertain for awhile if they really would or not.  Of course, I have no clue what is going on with him now but at least I get to look at him still.  I'm very curious to find out why saving him was so important.  Beyond my own personal happiness that is.

The Suliet stuff was really sad.  I felt for Sawyer, even if I was annoyed that he was blaming it all on Jack.  Like Jack is magically supposed to know everything.

It was nice to see Boone again.  I wish Shannon had been there too but I guess it made sense she wouldn't be.  One of the few things that did make some sense.  I wanted to see far more of Claire.  The story for Charlie was really sad.

I'm confused about why it took so long for Jack to realize he knew Desmond and why Desmond didn't know him and why Desmond disappeared.

Final thought.  I love the "subtlety" of this cast picture.

Update...finally

So last semester was insane.  I taught two university level classes, my parents got divorced, I had a car accident, my mom had knee surgery, and I was sick with what may have been the H1N1 flu for about a month.  When I made through the term I just about collapsed and did nothing.  Seriously, I slept a lot, played lots of New Super Mario Bros. on my new Wii, and watched mindless TV.  It was lovely.  The new semester starts this coming Monday.  I'm not sure I'm altogether ready for it but at least it is only one class.  I'm vaccinated against both strains of flu so let's all knock on wood that it makes a difference.  I plan to drive extra carefully too.  This term just has to be less stressful.

Since I am still working on this bloody dissertation.  It's beginning to feel nearly as painful (in an emotional sense) as giving birth.  I will have poured so much of myself into this and I'm not sure it will matter.  The academic job market sucks too.

On to happier subjects now...

Since last I posted I have added some new shows to my list of obsessions.  Supernatural being at the top of said list.  Seriously the show is like crack.  If you don't watch it, you should.  But make time to marathon through it because like a great book you won't want to put it down.  I don't even like scary stuff normally nor do I generally get into supernatural stuff but this one dragged me in.  I think it's the hot guys, humor, family drama, hot guys, the big mystery with the yellow-eyed demon from earlier on, and oh did I mention the hot guys?

Recently I have been rewatching "Chuck".  I wish more people watched it so that I had no worries about it going away anytime in the next few years.  I love how they blend comedy, action, and romance together.  The cast rocks and I have a bit of a crush on Zachary Levi.  Chuck is totally the nerdy girls' dream man.  And I love that it brought back my second favorite actor from Firefly (Adam Baldwin, "Jayne") who is hilarious as Chuck's NSA handler.

Speaking of Firefly it's awesome having Nathan Fillion back on TV.  Castle is quickly becoming one of the shows I enjoy the most.  It's not anything terribly new in terms of cop shows but the humor they manage to bring in makes it feel lighter, which is nice.  NF always has had a gift for being funny & charming.  And I think his daughter may be my favorite teenager on TV right now.

Hmm...maybe it's becoming obvious why my dissertation isn't getting done....Naaaaah.

It's time to make dinner before tonight's Supernatural now.  I'm trying to be good and update more than once every 6 months.  We'll see how that goes.  Hey last time it was more than once a year so I'm improving....slowly.

I was so ahead of the curve

Green has been my favorite color forever and now it's the new black.  Apparently I was ahead of the times & just didn't know it.

So things have been a little rough lately.  I cannot find a summer job no matter where I look.  I hate not having money.  I don't need to be rich but not having to worry about how to pay the bills would be really nice.

There's some family drama too that I just don't want to get into.  Suffice it to say it's adding some stress to a summer that's already got it's fair share.

The good news is that I have a good shot at getting an article published.  The first draft was turned down but I received some feedback and was asked to re-submit the article after I revise it.  I'm going to work very hard on this because having a publication for the ol' CV would really help me out there on the job market.

Wow, it's been awhile.

To be honest I sort of forgot about starting this up.  Go figure.

Anyway, no big news.  Still working on that danged dissertation.  I swear I will finish it...someday.

I just my copy of Twilight on DVD so I've only watched it once so far.  I'm probably way too old to be crushing on RPattz as hard as I am.

If you're aren't watching the new ABC show "Castle," you should be.  I love this show so far.   A new show I do not recommend is "In the Motherhood."  I'm sad because I loved Megan Mullaly on "Will & Grace" but she cannot save this show.  I just felt like it was trying way too hard or something.

If you are looking for a movie to see I recommend, "I love you Man."  It's a hilarious, socially awkward comedy about the rules of male friendships.  Paul Rudd & Jason Segel are both perfectly cast.

Well, I think I'm done rambling for now.  I'll try to post more than every 1.5 years.

Welcome to my LJ page!

My title is inspired by the following Oscar Wilde quote, "Democracy means simply the bludgeoning of the people by the people for the people."  Wilde is one of my favorite authors and satire one of my favorite things that exists in the whole universe.  When stumped as to what to make the title for my page, I knew I had to find an inspiring quote from Wilde.

As you can see from my userpic, I am a fan of Jam (or now PB&J) from The Office.  I love the whole show but Jim and Pam just make me happy.  I'm still nowhere near down from the high of last night's season premiere.

Being a poor grad student doesn't leave tons of money or time for hobbies so I watch a lot of TV in my downtime.  Besides the Office, I watch The Simpsons, Heroes, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Scrubs, House, Bones, L&O: SVU, and Desperate Housewives.  I still miss Friends, The West Wing, and Arrested Development.

One of my longest running addictions is to the Daily Show.  I've watched since the days of Craig Kilborn.  Jon Stewart is pretty much the perfect man.  I also love the Colbert Report but my first loyalty is still to Jon and TDS.

I also watch General Hospital but I often find myself wondering why I bother anymore.  Then I remember the answer to that question is "Robin and Patrick."  As they are currently not together, I am not watching.  Problem solved.

Kels
