I was so ahead of the curve

Green has been my favorite color forever and now it's the new black.  Apparently I was ahead of the times & just didn't know it.

So things have been a little rough lately.  I cannot find a summer job no matter where I look.  I hate not having money.  I don't need to be rich but not having to worry about how to pay the bills would be really nice.

There's some family drama too that I just don't want to get into.  Suffice it to say it's adding some stress to a summer that's already got it's fair share.

The good news is that I have a good shot at getting an article published.  The first draft was turned down but I received some feedback and was asked to re-submit the article after I revise it.  I'm going to work very hard on this because having a publication for the ol' CV would really help me out there on the job market.

Wow, it's been awhile.

To be honest I sort of forgot about starting this up.  Go figure.

Anyway, no big news.  Still working on that danged dissertation.  I swear I will finish it...someday.

I just my copy of Twilight on DVD so I've only watched it once so far.  I'm probably way too old to be crushing on RPattz as hard as I am.

If you're aren't watching the new ABC show "Castle," you should be.  I love this show so far.   A new show I do not recommend is "In the Motherhood."  I'm sad because I loved Megan Mullaly on "Will & Grace" but she cannot save this show.  I just felt like it was trying way too hard or something.

If you are looking for a movie to see I recommend, "I love you Man."  It's a hilarious, socially awkward comedy about the rules of male friendships.  Paul Rudd & Jason Segel are both perfectly cast.

Well, I think I'm done rambling for now.  I'll try to post more than every 1.5 years.

Welcome to my LJ page!

My title is inspired by the following Oscar Wilde quote, "Democracy means simply the bludgeoning of the people by the people for the people."  Wilde is one of my favorite authors and satire one of my favorite things that exists in the whole universe.  When stumped as to what to make the title for my page, I knew I had to find an inspiring quote from Wilde.

As you can see from my userpic, I am a fan of Jam (or now PB&J) from The Office.  I love the whole show but Jim and Pam just make me happy.  I'm still nowhere near down from the high of last night's season premiere.

Being a poor grad student doesn't leave tons of money or time for hobbies so I watch a lot of TV in my downtime.  Besides the Office, I watch The Simpsons, Heroes, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Scrubs, House, Bones, L&O: SVU, and Desperate Housewives.  I still miss Friends, The West Wing, and Arrested Development.

One of my longest running addictions is to the Daily Show.  I've watched since the days of Craig Kilborn.  Jon Stewart is pretty much the perfect man.  I also love the Colbert Report but my first loyalty is still to Jon and TDS.

I also watch General Hospital but I often find myself wondering why I bother anymore.  Then I remember the answer to that question is "Robin and Patrick."  As they are currently not together, I am not watching.  Problem solved.
